A Symphony of Science at Internoise
The sun-drenched streets of Nantes hummed with excitement as acoustic experts from around the world converged for Internoise 2024. From August 25th to 29th, the city became the epicentre of noise control innovation.
At the heart of the exhibition hall stood the RION and Norsonic booth, a beacon of cutting-edge sound measurement technology. The booth buzzed with activity as visitors eagerly examined the latest noise dosimeters, sound level meters and engaged in animated discussions with the knowledgeable staff.
On the afternoon of August 27th, anticipation filled the air as colleagues from RION prepared to present their groundbreaking research. The lecture hall quickly filled to capacity for the talk titled “Survey on sound exposure for musicians using a noise dosimeter.”
As M. Ueda from Kanagawa Institute of Technology took the podium, a hush fell over the audience. Joined by mr. M. Hiroe from Kobayasi Institute of Physical Research, Mr. S. Yamada from RION Co., Ltd., and Mr. I. Nishiguchi, also from Kanagawa Institute of Technology, they unveiled their findings.
The presentation painted a vivid picture of the challenges musicians face with sound exposure. Graphs and data flashed across the screen, illustrating the complex relationship between artistic expression and hearing health. The innovative use of noise dosimeters to capture real-world exposure levels drew murmurs of appreciation from the crowd.
As questions poured in after the lecture, it was clear that the research had struck a chord. Acousticians, engineers, and even a few musicians in attendance engaged in a lively discussion, exploring the implications of the study for future noise control strategies in the music industry. Back at the booth, the team fielded a steady stream of inquiries inspired by the lecture. Visitors were keen to see the actual dosimeters used in the study and discuss potential applications in their own work.
As the exhibition drew to a close on August 29th, the RION and Norsonic team packed up their booth with a sense of accomplishment. They had not only showcased their cutting-edge technology but also contributed valuable knowledge to the field. The connections made and ideas exchanged at Internoise 2024 promised to resonate long after the last exhibitor had left Nantes.
